چکیده

Severe infection by a novel influenza virus, distinct from the circulating human influenza A virus, in humans usually heralds a sporadic pattern of severehuman infection or an influenza pandemic [1]. Accordingly, the discovery of the novel avian influenza A(H7N9) virus is of great public health significance [2]. Because this virus has not been detected previously in humans or in animals, many urgent questions and global public health concerns need to be addressed [3]. Study of the early cases could provide key

Human Infection with Avian Influenza a (h7n9) Virus

BACKGROUND Characterisation of the severity profile of human infections with influenza viruses of animal origin is a part of pandemic risk assessment, and an important part of the assessment of disease epidemiology. Our objective was to assess the clinical severity of human infections with avian influenza A H7N9 virus, which emerged in China in early 2013. METHODS We obtained information abou...

Epidemiology of human infections with highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H7N9) virus in Guangdong, 2016 to 2017

We describe the epidemiology of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H7N9) based on poultry market environmental surveillance and laboratory-confirmed human cases (n = 9) in Guangdong, China. We also compare the epidemiology between human cases of high- and low-pathogenic avian influenza A(H7N9) (n = 51) in Guangdong. Case fatality and severity were similar. Touching sick or dead poultry ...

Therefore, radiological findings are important to diagnose and evaluate disease severity. The clinical characteristics of three new cases of H7N9 virus infection were analyzed, especially the radiological findings, and previous...

Much Higher Case-fatality Rates of Index Cases. Commentary: Differences in the Epidemiology of Human Cases of Avian Influenza A(H7N9) and A(H5N1) Viruses Infection

BACKGROUND The pandemic potential of avian influenza viruses A(H5N1) and A(H7N9) remains an unresolved but critically important question. METHODS We compared the characteristics of sporadic and clustered cases of human H5N1 and H7N9 infection, estimated the relative risk of infection in blood-related contacts, and the reproduction number (R). RESULTS We assembled and analyzed data on 720 H5...
